My Teaching Philosophy
Hi! I'm Elizabeth!
I became an art teacher to inspire students to dream big, be themselves, and take chances. I believe that every child has something he or she wishes to share with the world; their thoughts, dreams, ideas, and opinions must be voiced or else he or she will begin to feel as if what they value is not important. Everyone needs someone to find value in what they do, especially children. As an Art Educator, I vow to take the time to get to know my students and create lessons catered to their differing styles and abilities. Every child deserves the chance to show off whom he or she is, and it is my job to help translate that into art. My classroom is a place of exploration, not lecture-based, but instead teacher and students learning and making discoveries together. Students must be exposed to a variety of artists and styles in order to realize that art is not just for the so-called “talented few”but also for anyone who has something to say about anything. Presenting students with the many eras of Art History allows them to see that the view of art is forever evolving-- from cave paintings to outdoor sculptures, art is and has always been all around us. |
